I’ve been living in New York City for over a month now, and I think it’s about time for an update.
I absolutely love it here. The weather has been nice to me – this won’t last long. The rainy days are dreary but inspire me in some weird artistic sense. I love walking around the streets aimlessly (except at night, when hobos randomly appear out of trash heaps, or when creepy men tell me all they want for Christmas is me). I’ve seen Mr. Big from Sex and the City twice. Yes, twice. In the same area. My writing professor is super intense, genius, young, and an Oxford graduate (how?). My roommates and I went to Electric Zoo Festival at Randall’s Island: 22 hours of fun-filled, drug-enhanced (not me…) dancing and strobing. We then proceeded to see Armin van Buuren and the Dutch crown-prince and princess dance to trance music at Governor’s Island. We threw a crazy dance party, complete with strobelights, glowsticks, and warpaint. A friend’s girlfriend came from Chicago and welcomed us to her creeper’s badass apartment on the 20th floor, overlooking all of 5th avenue. We made guacamole dip for taco night. I experienced Joose.
That was a vague recap of my first month.
My best friend and genius Harvard-student Rose is visiting this weekend and I am way excited. I am going all out with a dance party and piñatas. (Glowsticks, strobelights, and warpaint are a given.) I’m going “all the way” to Brooklyn to buy supplies this week. Disney princess air bed? Yes, please.
Also, my aunts, uncle, and cousin are coming to see me Saturday, and I’ll be going to the Chicago Broadway show. My parents and Dutch grandmother are driving up for Parent Weekend soon, too.
My ex and good friend/talented producer&DJ John David is planning a visit very soon, as well.
Just found out that deadmau5 is coming to play at the enormous Terminal 5 in NYC on November 25th. HYPETYPE. Planning to go see Chromeo on October 16, and Boys Noize on HALLOWEEN. Unfortunately, NYC hates 18-year-olds, and events are either 19+ or 21+. I WILL find a way to go to Boys Noize. And I WILL be dressed up for Halloween. Be prepared, ladies and gentlemen.
My only complaint: I haven’t seen the sky lately.
And I can’t make it home for Thanksgiving
Thanks, NYU, for giving us two days off… only. I guess I’ll be forced to do my Black Friday shopping in the Big Apple. Oh lordy, that sounds way too dangerous.
And here come the pictures.

this is sarah not ollie and i this is such a cute post. glad i made the pic roll!
