Saturday night WIN at the Market Hotel in Brooklyn. I wish I’d taken my dSLR, but then again, it probably would’ve gotten trashed or lost. Super sketch venue with great lighting and sound system. Set up of what looked like 2 Pioneer CDJ800s, 2 turntables, and a mixer. Walked in, some guy playing rap music off an iPod. Everyone was blazing, sitting down and staring, kind of entertaining. Sat on the speakers, downed some Sparks, unknown DJ started playing mad dirty, raw triphop/dubstep. The four of us dominated the dance floor. Danced for about 3 solid hours. One of the best nights I’ve had. Asked the DJ when he’d be back in NYC, he was such a sweetheart. Came home at 5:30 and found out he’s part of The XX, a band similar to Animal Collective, apparently getting really big. (Check out their song Crystalised.) Dude goes under the DJ name Jamie XX, his remixes of You’ve Got To Love and Basic Space are fucking sick.
Also, downloaded Flying Lotus’s “Los Angeles” album, pretty sick.
